Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Boulder Art Review?
The Boulder Art Review is an upcoming annual magazine featuring creative artworks from local young and student artists. The magazine intends to serve as a platform to be leveraged by individuals looking to enter the creative industry. The magazine is unaffiliated with the ArtReview Magazine, University of Colorado Boulder, the City of Boulder, or Boulder County.
How does it work?
The Boulder Art Review operates on a very personal editorial basis. Accepted artists will be contacted for an interview or discussion about their work, the personal complexions associated with it, and art as a general subject. Then, the editor assembles their thoughts, artwork, and ideas into an artist profile for inclusion in the magazine. Other mediums, like creative writing for example, may be showcased on their own, unaccompanied by a profile at the discretion of the artist. After publication, artists are able to build off of their opportunity with the Boulder Art Review, using their published work to further their professional creative pursuits.
When does it release? How frequently?
The Boulder Art Review is committed to releasing it’s first issue in Q4 2025. Additional issues will be published yearly in the Fall. Working on an annual timeframe allows for the necessary development of the magazine to occur as well as time for the sole editor to work.
Can I pre-order a copy?
Currently, there are no plans to allow for pre-ordering for the Boulder Art Review. While the reasoning behind this is complex, the Boulder Art Review wants to prioritize delivering on quality—both for readers and featured artists—and intends to avoid complications associated with preordering, crowdfunding or Kickstarters.
Will it be available in print or digitally?
The first issue of the Boulder Art Review will be available in print and digital formats. Following a made-to-order print schedule, a set number of prints will be immediately available for local distribution, and additional copies will be available to order until the release of the second issue. The online edition will be free and accessible indefinitely.
How will it be priced?
The Boulder Art Review intends to get local artist’s work in the hands of as many individuals as possible. Because of this, print copies of the Boulder Art Review will follow fair pricing with small margins—the digital version will always be free. The exact price is to be decided, but will be announced closer to the release of the first issue in Q4 2025.
How can I submit work?
